There is a shift in population happening in New Jersey shore communities. The 2010 U.S. Census figures show the towns closest to the shore and beach are seeing dramatic decreases in population. The borough of Avalon lost nearly 38 percent of its year-round population over 10 years while Seaside Park, Lavallette, Mantoloking and Deal each lost about 30 percent of their residents. Southern locales like Sea Isle City, Brigantine and Ocean City each had about a 25 percent reduction. NJ.com users are discussing what population decreases means and why it may be happening.

back to topThe American Power Boat Association (APBA) sponsored the 2010 Hydro-Turf APBA Watercross National Tour at Colonial Beach, VA. Onlookers were treated with the rare experience of seeing some of the top racers in the world of water cross racing. One of which was, one of our very own Jetek personnel, Ronnie Walker.
Jetek's own skills and experience go into racing performance modifications that allowed Ronnie to place third in Moto 1, and 8th out of 17 riders overall within the 2 days races (complete list of riders and results found here). Ronnie's bragging rights can be found at our Brigantine NJ location.

WEST TRENTON — Personal watercraft operators are reminded that New Jersey personal watercraft laws have recently changed.
According to New Jersey State Police, the law now states that a person is not permitted to operate a personal watercraft above minimum headway speed within 100 feet of buoys or signs that mark the boundaries of a swimming area, the shoreline, any person in the water, or residential dwelling units. Additionally, personal watercraft are not permitted to be operated in such a manner so as to make the vessel completely leave the water or otherwise become airborne within 100 feet of another vessel.

Preexisting laws that remain unaffected by the recent changes require that personal watercraft be operated only between sunrise and sunset and during times of good visibility.
Personal watercraft are not permitted to be operated within the confines of the Point Pleasant Canal in Ocean County, or the Cape May Canal in Cape May County. Personal watercraft operators must be at least 16 years of age, and must have a boating safety certificate in their possession.
